Sunday Services8am Holy Communion (2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays in the month only) What is it like ? This service takes the form of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), written in 1662. During the Service, the Gospel and then a Sermon are heard. Towards the end of the service, the Sacrament -in other words the consecrated bread and wine- is received. Over the centuries, many people attending this service have found that the Shakespearean, old English language helps them focus in their prayer. How long is it ? The service lasts for about 45 minutes 9.30am Parish Eucharist (1st, 3rd, 4th & 5th Sunday in the month) What is it like ? This is the main Sunday service It takes the form of a Holy Communion service, which utilises contemporary English prayers and hymns. On the first Sunday of the month, a baptism is celebrated within the context of Holy Communion How long is it ? The service last approximately 1 hour ten minutes Refreshments are served afterwards at the back of church. Sunday School Meets from 9.30am in the adjacent St James School. In order for your child to attend Sunday School, arrangements must be made in advance. There are further details available on this website. The Sunday School joins the main Church service at around 10.15am 9.30am Family Service (2nd Sunday in the month) What is it like ? The Family Service is geared to young people and the Uniformed Groups (Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides and Scouts all take part in the Service. All Family Services are in accessible, contemporary English. How long is it ? The service lasts about 50 minutes. Refreshments are served afterwards at the back of church. Sunday School does not meet. Children and parents are encouraged to attend the Family Service in church. |
